Pine Rivers Community Finance, through Community Bank Samford, continues to invest in the aspirations of people across the region with its annual Community Scholarship Program. The initiative is designed to ease financial pressure for tertiary students and help them reach their academic potential and future career goals.

The program, delivered through the Pine Rivers Community Finance Program, provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate commitment, ambition and a strong connection to the local community. Beyond financial support, the scholarships reflect Community Bank Samford’s long-standing belief that strong, supported young people help build strong, thriving communities.
“We are eager to support and motivate community members to pursue opportunities in higher education,” said Nadine Wynn of Community Bank Samford. “This funding enables young people to build a future where they can achieve their goals without the burden of financial stress.”
Three UniSC Moreton Bay students currently receive funding support, including third-year Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science student Kate, who received a scholarship to assist with fees, study materials and compulsory placement commitments.
For Kate, the scholarship has been transformative. As a mature-age student balancing study, community commitments and the cost of living, unpaid practicum placements posed a significant challenge. The scholarship eased that financial pressure, allowing her to focus on gaining the hands-on experience required to complete her degree.
“I am extremely grateful for the generous support from Community Bank Samford,” Kate said. “As a mature-age student and proud local resident, it means a lot to be recognised and supported by a business that gives back to our community. The scholarship has allowed me to focus on my studies and be a successful student. The team at Community Bank Samford are wonderful and extremely encouraging and supportive. Thank you.”
Now in her third year, Kate is passionate about applying her knowledge of sport and exercise science to help people enhance their health, fitness, and wellbeing.
With a focus on translating evidence-based research into practical strategies, she hopes to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals across the region.
Pine Rivers Community Finance through Community Bank Samford is proud to play a role in Kate’s journey and the journeys of all local students who receive support through the program.
