Pine Rivers Community Finance Donates $50,000 to Support Flood-Affected Families in Western Queensland.
When devastating floods swept through parts of Western Queensland in early 2025, communities were left grappling with the loss of homes, livelihoods, and essential infrastructure. In response, Pine Rivers Community Finance Ltd (PRCF), operator of Community Bank Samford, contributed $50,000 to the Western Queensland Floods Appeal, coordinated by GIVIT.
The donation has directly supported people impacted by flooding in towns including Jundah, Thargomindah and other parts of the Barcoo and Bulloo regions. With GIVIT working directly with councils, outreach teams and recovery organisations on the ground, PRCF’s funding has been put to immediate and effective use, helping people get exactly what they need, when they need it.
Real Impact for Real People
Here are just a few examples of how the PRCF contribution has already made a difference:
- A fridge/freezer for Jundah Jellybeans Playgroup, helping the community rebuild a vital service for children and families following the floods. The playgroup, run by dedicated volunteers, provides a safe, fun and supportive environment for children to learn and play while families connect and build friendships.
- Beds and bedding for a father and his children in Thargomindah, who lost nearly all household possessions, including whitegoods, after floodwaters severely damaged their rental home.
A washing machine for a family living in a caravan, following the inundation of their home. While they live in temporary accommodation, access to a washing machine is helping them rebuild.
These acts of support are just a few examples of how targeted donations, guided by local need, can bring relief and comfort in times of crisis.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do,” said PRCF Chair Malcolm Frizzell. “When we saw the devastation caused by the floods, we knew we wanted to help and provide real on-the-ground assistance to communities in need.”
