When people are facing housing stress, financial hardship or personal crisis, the hardest step is often knowing where to turn.
The Peninsula Support Hub in Redcliffe provides a welcoming place to start that first conversation. Run by The Salvation Army, the hub brings together key support services, making it easier for people to navigate the system without feeling overwhelmed. Visitors can receive advice on housing, connect with specialised services, and access emotional support, all of which can make a significant difference during difficult times.
The Need in the Community
In its first six months, the Peninsula Support Hub team assisted 996 presentations across the Redcliffe region, with every person who walked through the doors receiving some form of support.
During this period, 380 people sought assistance with housing, highlighting the increasing pressure on families across South East Queensland. To support the complex challenges associated with homelessness, referrals were made to specialised services, including aged care, financial counselling, legal advice, mental health support, and parenting and family programs.
Others came seeking financial guidance, social connection or help navigating personal crises. In total, 219 people required financial assistance or advice, 130 people were looking for social support and connection, and 21 presentations involved domestic and family violence.
Importantly, these conversations are already translating into meaningful outcomes. During the same period, support provided through the hub contributed to eight long-term housing outcomes, helping individuals take significant steps toward stability.

A Community Working Together
Programs like the Peninsula Support Hub rely on strong local partnerships to continue delivering this kind of support. Pine Rivers Community Finance, through Community Bank Samford, is proud to support initiatives that improve the wellbeing of the wider region.
“One of the strengths of the community banking model is that it allows us to support organisations responding directly to the needs of the community,” said Community Bank Samford Senior Branch Manager, Mandy Bell.
“What’s particularly powerful about the Peninsula Support Hub is the way the team has introduced specialist roles that strengthen the support available to people walking through the door,” she said.
The Community Development Specialist plays an important role in fostering strong connections within the local community and helping to bridge gaps between services. The Child Specialist works closely with staff to ensure services are inclusive of children and, where necessary, child safe. Together, these roles offer a proactive response to the support that individuals and families need at this time.
Mandy adds, “When programs take this kind of approach, the impact goes far beyond immediate assistance. It strengthens the whole support network around people and helps build a more connected and resilient community.”
As the hub continues its work across the Redcliffe Peninsula, the impact of local collaboration is becoming increasingly clear. By connecting people with the right support at the right time, the Peninsula Support Hub is helping individuals and families move beyond crisis and toward greater stability, creating lasting change in our region.
